International Collaboration for RT career development - MSc. program between Taipei Medical University and Georgia State University

In 2016, School of Respiratory Therapy, Taipei Medical University (TMU) cooperated with Department of Respiratory therapy, School of Nursing and Health Professionals, Georgia State University (GSU) in opening a dual master degree program mainly to enhance knowledge about respiratory therapy from both side. Additionally, the program also bond researches between schools closer. Any students from master program of School of Respiratory therapy, TMU, can apply for the dual master degree program. Once they are recommended by TMU to GSU, they may study abroad at Department of Respiratory Therapy, GSU, master degree as an exchange student. After meeting the graduation requirement from both schools, students in the program not only can receive both master degrees from TMU as well as GSU, they may even have the qualification to earn American respiratory therapist license.
In 2017, the first student from School of Respiratory Therapy, TMU, joined the dual master degree program, he was Shih, Chi-Hsiang
 (Fig 3). Assistant professor, Chun-Chun Hsu from School of Respiratory Therapy, TMU visited GSU in early 2018, she met with director and teachers of Department of Respiratory Therapy, GSU, mainly to discuss the details within dual master degree program (Fig1 and Fig 4). After that, they looked into the courses student take including clinical practice progress by walking through the environment where Department of Respiratory therapy, GSU, students study (Fig 2). The main goal of international cooperation between TMU and GSU is to widen the views of respiratory therapist, and hopefully, it’ll make education, researches, and clinical practice of respiratory therapy in Taiwan better.
